Distillation Labware

Distillation is a process used widely in the laboratory or in wider working environments for separating or purifying liquids or liquid mixtures based on the different boiling points of individual components.
Distillation Applications:
• Separation and purification of miscible liquid mixtures in organic chemistry
• Drying of solid residues and/or solvent removal
• Fractional distillation of liquids from polymers and petroleum products
• Removal of particulates or other solid contaminants
• As part of a water purification system for production of distilled water for laboratory use
• Specialist steam distillation-based applications such as Kjeldahl analysis of nitrogen and proteins in food, beverage, or environmental samples
What Types of Distillation Equipment Are Available?
Conventional distillation apparatus, typically comprising individual, jointed borosilicate glassware components assembled by the user (depending upon the application), using appropriate clamps, stands, and supports. Most conventional distillation assemblies combine a round-bottomed distilling flask to contain and heat the liquid(s) that require purification, fitted with a stoppered or jointed neck to which is attached a downward-sloping, inclined side-arm for connection to a condensing unit to cool the heated vapors back down to their liquid state. Heating mantles are the preferred heat source for improved temperature control. These conventional distillation units are also available supplied complete and ready-assembled for added convenience and ease of use.
Specialized automated distillation equipment, notably units designed for the determination of volatile acidity and alcoholic strength by volume in wines, musts, and alcoholic beverages, and units designed for Kjeldahl nitrogen or protein determinations.

The 10/18 size is used with 10/18, 25mm immersion thermometers while the 10/30 is for use with 10/30, 75mm immersion thermometers. With inner joints on the bottom and sidearm at a 75¿ angle to one another.

20mL moisture receiver with 24/40 joint. Includes a 120¿, 1:5 PTFE stopcock which provides adequate shut-off in the intermediate position. Thermometer joint is 10/30.

Chemglass Life Sciences Coil Condenser Insert, Type "C"
Coil Condenser Insert, Type "C". Insert allows the conversion of a "C" type dry ice condenser for use with either tap water or a chilled circulator. Inlet and outlet are GL-14 threads and supplied complete with caps and detachable hose connections. Also supplied with a PTFE centering ring.

Replacement vapor (steam) tube adapter for Bchi R-200/205 rotary evaporators. Adapters have a 50mm OD top flange with a tapered interior to fit the Bchi sealing ring. Lower portion of the adapter has the listed standard taper inner joint. Each tube is supplied complete with corresponding size Keck clip.NOTE: ITEMS WILL REPLACE THE BUCHI PART NUMBERS AS LISTED. CHEMGLASS ITEMS ARE TO BE USED WITH THE KECK CLIP, NOT THE BUCHI COMBI-CLIP.
